Recommended Dosage: SAMe should be taken on an empty stomach for maximum absorption. SAMe supplementation can be divided over the course of the day, (i.e. before breakfast, before lunch and before supper.) Clinical studies indicate that benefits may be evident in the first week or two of supplementation. Take 1 tablet (400mg) a day for the first week. If the desired benefits are not achieved, you may increase your level of supplementation by taking 2 tablets daily (800mg) in the second week. In some cases it may be necessary to increase your intake of SAMe to as much as 4 tablets a day (for a maximum of 1600mg). A month or two after you have achieved your desired result you can try to decrease your dosage to a maintenance level of 400mg to 800mg daily. Definite effect on my mood and energy levels. I also take it for arthritis, which it helps keep under control. I recently found out that it has numerous anti-aging benefits. Highly recommended for people with depression or energy issues. You have to take as much as will give you the intended effect, up to 1600 mg./day. Don't take them after noon - they do raise your energy levels and may make it hard to sleep. Nature's Trove seems stronger than Nature Made or store brand.
SAMe really helps my knees fell better. I need a knee replacement, but this supplement has made it so much easier to walk. I am in a better mood also and I definitely attribute that to SAMe.
For 15 years I’ve taken 2 SAM-e 400mg (800mg total) every morning with a tall glass of water as soon as I wake for hip arthritis.
